The rough isolation of Wisconsin's North Woods region is cut by part of the Gogebic range, from which much iron ore was extracted before 1965. Iron mining was resumed briefly in 1969 but has since stopped altogether. Other important crops are hay, oats, potatoes, alfalfa, and a great variety of fruits and vegetables. However, he had noticed that a lot of people were moving into the community due to new job opportunities in the nearby big city, but very few were calling for his services. He wondered if they were having a problem finding him.

 

Settling down at the small computer desk in the corner of his living room he tapped the spacebar to wake up the machine.
